Regrettably, a number of important messages were lost when SENAC, the operator of the earlier guestbook, suddenly and without notice suspended operations, just after Wesley Day's funeral.
Below are the entries made in the first guestbook for this site.

I just sent a message regarding A.F. Almblad. I am in fact making a trip to China next month. It is unlikely that the Bible school still exists, but any information that Mr. Day may have in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Anton Felix Almblad is the great-grandfather to my children, and the head master at the Bible school, Kalgan, China; and likely the one who called Mr. Wesley to come and teach. Anton died in Peping (Beijing) in 1945, however, his wife, Arnolda, managed to get back to Kalgan after the Japanese invasion, staying on until a replacement came several years later.

I grew up in the Methodist School & Church environment in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia - from Kindergarten thru Highschool until 1972. Basically I am a product of the Methodist system. I have a lot of fond memories from childhood years. UMC has great contribution to the socio-cultural development in Indonesia. I am very greatful of it. Today Nov.2, 2003 we learnt about the loss of a great missionary, Rev. William L. Armstrong, who has also served a long time in Indonesia and will be missed a lot. Rev. Day, thank you for your long service in Indonesia. I wish you continued good health, peace and happiness. Your biography is a legacy for the future generation. John Tandana

Some of the best witnesses of change and history in China have been missionaries. I'm glad I found this account of Mr. Day. I hope it is expanded, with more details and photos, especially of Chengdu!

I remember with great fondness the three days we spent together recording your oral history interview for The United Methodist China Mission History Project. What a privilege to hear of your experiences, faith journey, and astute reflections of God's faithfulness to the all people. Oh, and I love the table grace in your website and plan to use it often! You have a beautiful web site. It meant a great deal to me to be to be able to look at your life as a missionary. My youngest child (age 18) feels she is called to foreign missions. I know that she will follow what she believes is God's will for her life, and I also know that I myself should trust God and not worry (but I still worry on her behalf).

My grandfather's full name was George Washington Wesley Walker. In 1909 my father moved as a pastor from Texas to Kansas City, Kansas. His family consisted of his wife and her three sons; I was not yet born. My mother was called by her sister, Parepa, to go to the old Maryland home and take care of her mother, who was very sick. So she went, with her three sons and one not yet born. My name was to be "George." My father stayed in Kansas City to carry on his church assignment. During this time he accepted assignment to a church at Inwood, Long Island, but carried on the Kansas City work till the end of the church year. So on August 24 he was leading a young people's party on Pike's Peak. From there he wrote a card to my mother asking how "George" was doing. But a cousin of mine had been born in Grandpa's home and was named "George." So I was named "Wesley", another of my grandfather's names. I was born August 24.
